About Us

Our Mission

AI Racer is a student-led research group and competitive club at UCF dedicated to the intersection of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Embedded Systems. We provide a hands-on platform for students to transition from classroom theory to real-world application. Using the global F1TENTH framework, our members build, program, and race 1/10th scale autonomous vehicles capable of reaching speeds over 40mph—completely driverless.

What we do?

Software & AI: We implement the full autonomous stack using ROS2 (Robot Operating System). Members work on Perception (LiDAR/Camera fusion), Planning (path optimization), and Control (PID/MPC) to navigate complex tracks.

Hardware & Embedded: Our Mechanical and Electrical teams handle the “bones” of the car. From custom CAD design and 3D printing to power distribution and sensor integration (NVIDIA Jetson, Hokuyo LiDAR).

Competition & Research: We prepare teams for the Grand Prix, where code meets the pavement in high-stakes head-to-head racing.
